IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.12 (R12) has now been released and it’s packed full of relatively small, but significant enhancements and new capabilities. Similar to other previous releases, IBM have created their latest release centred around the requirements of their Cognos user base, by addressing several of the most popular RFE requests.

For starters, IBM have made two rather significant enhancements to the dashboard experience in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.12, including a brand new reset dashboard function and multi-lingual support. In previous versions of Cognos Analytics, users had found it somewhat challenging when required to reverse a sequence of events in the eventuality that they traveled down the wrong path or if indeed, had found the answer to a question they were seeking to obtain. Now, in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.12 the reset dashboard function, once clicked, will return the user to the dashboard state it was last saved at. Therefore, if a user authored any filters into the dashboard, they will be lost once a reset is performed.

In addition to the reset dashboard function, multi-lingual support has now been added with the release of IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.12. Previously, Cognos Analytics reports have long supported the ability to author a report once and provide translations for user generated content. As of R12, this capability has been brought to the dashboard experience, meaning that a default language will be used, should the dashboard not be translated into the content locale for a given user.

Finally, as of R12, users are no longer required to have read access to the report specification in order to run the interactive viewer.
