What’s New In IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.10?
IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.10, the first release of 2018 has been announced. Discover more about the two latest and greatest features in dashboarding.
IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.9 was released in December 2017 and it featured several “small but significant” new features. Not only did the new capabilities and features add more intelligence than ever across the entire analytics work-stream, they also addressed several of the most desired Request For Enhancements (RFE) made by Cognos end users.
What we are seeing now is a pattern. Not only is IBM focused on maintaining Cognos’ position in the market as one of the leading BI and analytics tools, but once again, IBM are putting the end users, along with their requirements, at the heart of all Cognos Analytics enhancements.
Now, in March 2018, we’ve witnessed the release of IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.10 – the very first release of 2018. Again, following the recent pattern that IBM are continuing to follow, many of the top Request for Enhancements have been addressed, and the release of Cognos Analytics 11.0.10 has dashboarding written all over it.
Possibly one of the most highly requested dashboarding features in IBM Cognos Analytics is the ability to drill from a dashboard to a report (including passing of parameters). With the added drill capabilities, it is now easier than ever to author a drill-through that passes the content of a dashboard visualisation to an authored report.
The new drill-through experience isn’t complicated. It’s straightforward, intuitive and easy to use, enabling the end user to quickly get to grips with the new capabilities and start to drill-down in no time at all.
Export to PDF
Again, an additional, highly popular Request For Enhancement (RFE), as submitted and voted for by the Cognos user community is the ability to export to PDF in dashboards. This new feature in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.10 does exactly what it says on the tin. Cognos users now have the ability to either print dashboard content or save it locally.
It is worth noting, however, that as IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.10 uses the browsers print capability, and because each browser handles printing differently, users should initially follow the user guide for exporting a dashboard to PDF. The full guide can be found here.
General New Features Include:
Create a URL
Create URLs to keep your files, as well as your most visited websites at your fingertips.
OpenID Connect Authentication Proxy
IBM Cognos Analytics now provides another provider type, ‘OpenID Connect Authentication Proxy’ in Cognos Configuration. This menu offers the option to have Trusted Sign on Provider (TSP) for OpenID connect.
Jobs Created by Any User
In previous released of IBM Cognos Analytics, only administrators could create jobs. However, as of release 11.0.10, the “job” button now appears under the “new” button, which is available to all users.
Re-linking a Data Module Source
You can re-link a data module source to a different source. You can use this functionality when the current source in your data module is invalid, or when you want to replace a test source with a production source.
After a successful re-link, global calculations and relationships in the data module remain valid, and reports and dashboards that are based on this data module can start using the new source without any involvement from report authors. The re-linked source must be of the same type as the original source.
